Started In 2016 by Sara Dombroff Newman and Denise Starr, DS Consulting has worked behind the scenes on political campaigns for a variety of elected officials. We have a proven track record of success and a reputation for creating effective, research-based messaging that gets people to listen.

Denise Starr
Sara Dombroff Newman brings her extensive experience to the DS Consulting Partner group. Sara’s focus (honed over the last 30 years) is on messaging and strategy. She has extensive event planning/advance experience and has organized events ranging from small fundraising dinners to Presidential Conventions.
Sara has a reputation for using research-based messaging to appeal to a broad range of voters and her extensive contacts mean that she can easily connect organizations and individuals with the best people to further support their work.
A veteran of over 28 political campaigns ranging from mayoral to Presidential, Sara is also an attorney specializing in employment and labor law. In addition to her political and government work, Sara works as an adjunct professor at City University of New York (CUNY) and is often asked to speak on issues relating to employment laws, specifically as they relate to gender and sex discrimination.
Sara is a published author and essayist and has been featured in a range of publications from Clinical Lactation to New York Magazine on a variety of topics. When she Isn't at work, Sara can usually be found at a hockey rink cheering for her beloved NY Rangers. She currently lives in NYC with her husband, two children, dog, and cat.

For 30 years, Denise Starr has been on the front lines of government, political, and legal advocacy with extensive experience in Washington and battleground states across the country. Her background ranges from public relations and communications to political fundraising and administrative law.
Denise has served in three different presidential administrations, covering work in the White House, DOJ, FEC, and FCC. A seasoned campaign operative, Denise got her start in college on Ann Richards’ 1994 gubernatorial election, and has worked on numerous senatorial and presidential campaigns since.
After law school at George Washington Law School and a federal clerkship, Denise spent time with the federal government working on regulations and safety standards. Denise has also been key part of Democrats’ legal teams fighting to ensure free and fair elections, including recounts in Florida during the close 2018 state and Senate races. Beyond government and campaign work, Denise worked for nonprofits and consulted with multinational corporations on their government relations.
Denise is a native of Houston, Texas. When she’s not rooting for her UT Longhorns or the Washington Nationals, Denise enjoys volunteering with Chef Jose Andres’ World Central Kitchen and spoiling her rescue French Bulldog, Ginny.
